Ron Gibson recently asked me; “what do you feel when you ring someone, go through to their message bank and are asked to ’leave a short message’?” He went on to ask; “don’t you feel that they are indirectly saying that their time is more valuable than yours?” I take Ron’s point. If I have taken the time to ring you, why should I be restricted to a short message? This question made me recall a blog article I wrote some months ago suggesting that listening to advertising (messages on hold) while hanging on the phone waiting for attention from someone in a business is both infuriating and rude.
